Google Adwords celebrated its tenth birthday on Saturday. But what about its immediate future?

The move to mobile, the ASA extending its remit to cover paid search, and the growing effectiveness of ATO (Ad Text Optimization) all point to the medium continuing to mature at breakneck pace.  The healthy youngster is fast turning into a strong, mature adult.

As the party poppers popped in the Googleplex on Saturday, the rest of us will be left to wonder, what does the next ten years hold for Google Adwords?  If it continues to power the growth of paid search over the next decade as it has over the last, then a growing number of advertisers will also be looking forward to enjoying “many happy financial returns” for years to come.
